Velda Grimes Obituary

VELDA ELAINE (LACY) GRIMES
June 18, 1918 ~ May 13, 2014

Loving wife and mother, Velda Elaine Grimes, of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully in her home on Tues., May 13th, 2014 at the age of 95. She graduated from Ft. Vancouver High School in 1936.
Velda was very much an entrepreneur
and spent her career building and developing
Vancouver's largest and most innovative beauty salons.
After she retired and sold her salons, she ended up taking one salon back at age 80 and built it into a thriving business before once again selling it.
She spent much of her life as an active member of the Vancouver Soroptomists with the honor of serving as the organization's president twice.
Velda is survived by daughter, Donna Lee Evans from Vancouver; son, Richard Douglas and Mayumi Grimes from Houston, TX; grandchildren, Christopher and Christine Evans from San Diego, CA, Noelle Coleman from Vashon Island, WA, Hunter Grimes from Houston, TX and Lacy Grimes from Manchester, England; great-grandchildren, Tiernan and Sarah Evans from San Diego, Taylor Coleman from Vashon Island and Beatrice Wright born two weeks ago in Manchester, England.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Richard Grimes, who passed away in 2002. Velda was the last of a large family with one brother and four sisters.
There will be a graveside funeral on Sat., May 17th at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA.
