JOHN HUGHEY
February 24, 1935 ˜ August 1, 2023
John Hughey, 88, of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Aug. 1, 2023. He was born on Feb. 24, 1935. John was a hardworking individual who dedicated himself to his work and family.
John is survived by his wife, Glenice Hughey; his daughter, Diane Gonzales Hughey; his sons, Brian (Michelle) Shaver and Jim (Amber) Shaver; as well as eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mildred; his brothers, Chuck and Bob Hughey; his sister, Donna Cerami; and his grandson, Erick Gonzales.
John had a successful career as a contractor and eventually started his own company, JR Construction, which he ran well into his 70s.
In his free time, John enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and was a dedicated fan of the Mariners and Seahawks.
A ceremony to celebrate John’s life will be held on Sept. 7 at noon at Round Table Pizza (Van Mall)

That jelly roll never stood a chance. Growing up you always knew how to make us laugh. I'll forever treasure my countless memories of you being unapologetically yourself. You were one in a million and there will never be another quite like you. I love you and you'll forever be a part of me.
