Shirley Hobbs Obituary

SHIRLEY JEAN HOBBS
February 13, 1943 ˜ September 5, 2021

Shirley Jean Hobbs passed away peacefully, with family by her side, Sept. 6, 2021 at Providence Saint Peter Hospital in Olympia at the age of 78. Ms. Hobbs was born to the late Carlo Hobbs and Ellen Saylor Hobbs Feb. 13, 1943 in Salem, IN.
In 1974 she moved to Reno, NV, until she relocated to Vancouver, WA, in 1989 to raise her daughter.
She was an avid reader and loved writing poetry. She was a graduate of the University of Indiana where she studied european art history and comparative literature. Ms. Hobbs liked to travel and tour museums, loved the Pacific Northwest beaches and really enjoyed the summer.
Among those preceding her in death are her parents; her sisters, Mary E. Brown, Geneva “Genny” Baker and Jeanettiea Harris; brothers, Paul Hobbs, John Hobbs, Nathaniel Hobbs and Eli Hobbs.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Gina Comeau and Shelby Weir; her grandchildren, Julia, Edward James, and Johnny; her sister, Faye Drum; and dearest friend, Harry Day.
A memorial service will be held at Mills and Mills Funeral Home, Sept. 14, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. An expression of sympathy may be made through donations to the Olympia Animal Services.
