DELORES CHARLENE LASHER
April 3, 1937 ˜ January 28, 2026
Leaving smiles, laughter, and a home filled with love.
Delores “Charlene” Lasher passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on April 3, 1937, and spent much of her younger life in
Portland, Oregon.
While living in Portland, Charlene was introduced to John Lee Lasher by her best friends, his sisters, Elaine and Marjorie, after John returned from South Dakota. Charlene and John were married on June 3, 1956, and together built a life on their farm in Ridgefield, Washington, where they raised three children.
Above all else, Charlene cherished her family. She is survived by her three children, Richard (Shelly), Donald (Sandra), and Linda; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve), Richard (Sarim), Casey (Chelsea), Lindsey, Timothy, and Jeffrey; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her love, warmth, and steady presence will continue to live on through each generation.
Charlene spent many years working at Nabisco, where she built lasting friendships and took pride in her work alongside family members before retiring after nearly two decades.
Charlene had a deep love for the simple, meaningful things in life. She served others with quiet kindness and never hesitated to fill a need when she saw one. She often said, “You just got to be tough,” and “I have cold hands, but a warm heart,” and she meant it especially when it came to her family. Her favorite place was home, though she liked to joke that her second favorite place was the casino. But, wherever she was, people felt welcome.
She showed her love through food, tradition, and time together. She was an incredible cook, known especially for her fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and biscuits and gravy meals that brought everyone to the table and kept them there a little longer.
She loved clam digging, playing cards, putting together puzzles, seeing her friends at church, bucking hay in the summer, and any gathering that involved family, conversation, and fun. Her smile was constant; her joy contagious.
Holidays were especially dear to Charlene, and her home was always full. Easter brought lively egg hunts that sent kids racing through the yard, laughter carrying well beyond the house. Christmas was warm and welcoming, with everyone invited. In every season, Charlene’s table and her heart were open to all.
Charlene was generous in heart and spirit, willingly giving of herself to care for and meet the needs of her family and community. Her loving nature touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Lee Lasher; her parents, Charles and Mary Wirth; her siblings, Beverly, Joyce (JoJo), Charles (Chuck), Shirley, and Marilyn; and her sisters-in-law, Elaine and Marjorie. She now joins them again, reunited with those she loved so deeply.
Charlene will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, cooking, her ever-present smile, and the way she made everyone feel.
A celebration of life will be held at Footprints Church in Ridgefield, Washington, on February 27, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Charlene’s memory be honored through an act of kindness or service to others.
