Scott Maxwell Obituary

SCOTT LEE MAXWELL
November 10, 1942 ˜ November 8, 2025

Scott L. Maxwell, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and long-time Vancouver resident, passed away November 8, 2025, just shy of his 83rd birthday, following a 15-year battle with Parkinson’s.

Scott was born November 10, 1942, Salem, Oregon, to Ed and Gerti Maxwell. Growing up in Vancouver, Washington, he graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School, going on to earn a BA in Sociology from Central Washington University in 1966 and serving four years in the Army Reserves.

Scott is survived by his loving wife Ann Maxwell including her daughter Andrea and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife Linda Heniges and their three children Amy, Darrin, and Jennifer and four grandchildren. Scott was preceded by his parents, Ed and Gerti.

An entrepreneur and “people person,” Scott was a fixture in the Vancouver business community. He owned and operated a local Coast-to-Coast Hardware store started by his father Ed, later becoming Mill Plain Hardware. Between Ed & Scott, the family remained in the business for 50 years. Running a retail business allowed Scott to be active in the local community helping people. Later in his career, he owned a Postal Annex store and then worked in sales for Vancouver Ford, Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Nordstroms, and Glenwood Place. His genuine interest in people, and good-natured joking made him a friend to many.

Scott was an avid sports enthusiast, cheering for the Seattle Mariners, WSU football, and Gonzaga basketball teams. He was a history buff, enjoying visits to aviation and classic car museums, sometimes to the chagrin of family and friends. He was an avid gun collector who enjoyed target shooting and reloading. He was a talented sketch artist, doodling on scraps of paper and phone books in his free time. Cars were his passion and he loved road trips to the Columbia River Gorge and Oregon Coast. Scott loved spoiling their furry dogs Chloe and Smudge. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving wife Ann, their friends, neighbors and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, November 21, at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at https://www.michaeljfox.org/

I remember Scott at Hudson´s Bay hi school. He was so likable, not knowing at the time he was friends with my husband Lynn Barrett. Lynn died in July of this year. So sorry for your loss, it´s very hard, but I imagine you have wonderful memories.

Dear Maxwell Family
I am so sorry for the loss of Scott in your daily life here on earth. As the days pass, be sure to share your wonderful memories of his life with you.
I grew up with Coast to Coast Hardware in my Minnehaha neighborhood and grew up knowing the Maxwell Family. Scott offered me a job working in the store when I was in high school and I always had work, even as I went away to college and came home for college breaks. I also remember being the babysitter for Darrin, Amy and Jenny.
I knew of his health challenges after chatting with him at the neighborhood park in Maple Crest. That has been a weight on the entire family I'm sure.
With my sincere sympathy for your loss and I send prayers for you all as you journey these next days, months and years.

Ann and family, So sorry to hear of Scott´s passing. He had a larger than life, friendly personality and I always enjoyed calling on him when I was his advertising rep while working at the Columbian. He always had interesting stories to share, and I looked forward to our meetings.
