SCOTT CHARLES HAGEMAN
June 11, 1964 ˜ January 11, 2022
Scott Charles Hageman “Big Scott”, 57 of Vancouver, died peacefully with family by his side on Jan. 11, after living life fully and courageously with incurable cancer.
Scott was born June 11, 1964, in Vancouver, WA, to Charles and Billie Ann Hageman. Scott was a lifelong resident of Southwest Washington and graduated from Prairie High School in 1982, where he played football and basketball. Scott was in the Prairie High School band, played saxophone and was a member of the jazz band. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout, enjoyed softball, darts, bowling and golf and cherished his days on the water and in the mountains.
Scott had a short stint at Clark College before working at Keil’s Grocery then Sunshine Dairy Processing Plant in Portland. Scott’s dream to become a longshoreman started in 1988 when he worked his way up through the ranks and officially became Class-A registered in Feb. 1995 with ILWU Local #4. Scott loved all 27 years of his work there, where he made many lifelong friends.
Scott was enamored with the great outdoors. He was a hunter, fisherman, conservationist, and outdoorsman through and through. He enjoyed numerous hunting trips with good friends throughout the world, from Washington State to New Zealand, with multiple stops in between and has many prized trophies to show for it. He was passionate about teaching youth to be respectful and honorable hunters, and has left his legacy through teaching hunter’s education classes for the past 20 years. He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Scott is survived by his parents, Charles and Billie Ann Hageman; his sister, Stephanie (Chris) Gawley; nephews, Nick, Alec and Carson Gawley; stepdaughter, Kaitlyn Caughey; and partner, Lisa Dingman. He also has many beloved friends and family members who will all miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his best 4-legged buddy, Max.
In celebration of his life, we will be gathering on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at 2 p.m. The service will be held at Liberty Bible Church 12401 NE Salmon Creek Avenue, Vancouver, WA. 98686. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
Scott would have been overjoyed to have any donations made in his name to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (rmef.org) or Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (kiwanisdoernbecher.org).

I'm so sorry to hear of Scott's passing. Scott and I were sax players in the jazz band at Prairie HS and fellow Boy Scouts. He was a big guy and outgoing and a good friend during those years.

Such a beautiful tribute to Scott. He was a great friend and a mentor to so many. I´m grateful for times spent outdoors together and the safety and skills he instilled in my kids as they went through his classes. He made a huge impact in a lot of lives. I´m so sorry to hear he has passed.
