Rick Anderson Obituary

RICK ANDERSON
January 9, 1939 ~ March 29, 2015

Rick Elmer Anderson passed away on Palm Sunday, March 29, 2015. Rick was born in Glasgow, MT, to Elmer "Swede" and Vida Anderson. At age 4, Rick and his family moved to Vancouver, WA, where Rick worked actively as a paperboy for the Columbian. Some of Rick's many hobbies were playing the piano, roller-skating, clam digging, and often performed at the Saturday Bottle Cap where he was a skilled tap-dancer. One of Rick's strongest passions was his love for the Boy Scouts, where he achieved every merit badge possible. Through nine years of dedicated service, Rick had perfect attendance, in which he earned honor of the Order of the Arrow, and was the youngest individual ever to earn the achievement of Double Eagle Scout, a triumph that is not possible to accomplish these days.
Rick graduated from Hudson's Bay in 1957, where he was a prolific wrestler for his school, but later found his true appreciation and respect for the game of golf. After high school, Rick became active in his community, as he was a valued member with the Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He worked for the Mayflower Milk Company, the Clark Grave Vault, and was the General Manager for Club Green Meadows where he had a major influence on its successful culture. Some of his contributions were the additions of the bowling alleys, the official size track, and even hosted the Trail Blazers as they found the Club home for their daily practices.
After having achieved much with Green Meadows, Rick sought to start his own business when he purchased "The Office Tavern". Over eighteen years, he built the business to a higher standard as he added the restaurant and lounge to the building. Rick took considerable care in giving back to his community as he frequently sponsored many pool teams, young girls fast pitch, ladies slow-pitch, and young men's slow-pitch.
Rick was married to his dear wife Dolores for 56 years, where they loved to travel with the Cascade Sam's R.V. Travel Organization. Over time, Rick became a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose, and American Legion and spent the last ten years as a "Snowbird" in Mesa, AZ.
His wife Dolores Royle survives Rick, his three children, Jodi (Ron), Randi (Christine), and Cori (Karla). They have six grandchildren, Megan (Dillon), Elsha (Alan), Jenna, Trevor, Jordan (Alisha), and Taylor. Rick also was recently a new great-grandfather with the precious addition of baby Brek and is also survived through his mother Vida, brother Gary (Janet), sisters-in-law Jean and Linda.
A Celebration of Life for Rick Anderson will be Sat., April 25th from 2:00 to 5:00 at Club Green Meadows, 7703 NE 72nd Ave., 98661.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Shriners Hospital, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239.

Delores - Our cherished memories of a long friendship with you and Rick; attending each other's weddings, discussing growing families, and dining at your restaurants.

I remember he was the cutest boy in
my first grade class at Arnada elementary school. We had so much fun in our early innocent years, jump roping, square dancing, festivals, and believing we ran the school.

Please know that Dan and I are thinking of you and your family at this time and wishing you comfort and peace.

To the Delores and the Anderson Family. My heartfelt sympathy. I've known Ridk and the Anderson family for many many years and loved the energy Rick brought into the room. We're the same age and because were both in the restaurant/bar business experienced similar activities. And of course our parents were friends as we grew up. The best to all of you, I am saddened by this news.
Sincerely, Ron
