RICHARD L. WAGONER
April 2, 1929 ~ December 8, 2013
Richard L. Wagoner, 84, of Vancouver, WA, died peacefully on Dec. 8, 2013. He was born in Rochester, NY to James and Anna Mae Wagoner. Dick graduated from Madison High School in Rochester, NY and Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
Prior to college, he served in the Marine Corps in the years, 1950 to 1953, fighting alongside his fellow Marines during the Korean War.
Dick had a long career in material handling. He was a partner in American Recycling Systems with offices in Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.
In retirement, he and his wife moved to the Pacific Northwest following the birth of their grandson, John.
Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Wagoner, née Farrell, of Scranton PA; his three sons, Mark (wife Anna), Eric (wife Valerie) and Scott (wife Kathleen); and his sister, Betty Graf of Palm City, FL.
At his request, there is no funeral service planned. Interment with military honors will be in Willamette National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or your local Humane Society.

Ann,
You must know how loved Dick was by the entire family. Your loss is our loss, too. We will remember that smile and his wit. How many times did we share the kitchen table at Loch Raven or in Centralia? And there was always so much laughter. Our sadness is mixed with a smile, as we remember those wonderful times. . .

I first met Dick (and Ann) some 56 years ago, when I was a 14-y.o.kid in need of some serious influence. By far, Dick was the finest man (in every sense of the word) I have ever known. He was my hero and lifelong role model.

What a blessing to my life it had been to be welcomed into the Wagoner home in Stone Mountain, GA for hours of great fellowship, storytelling, cappuccino, and just an overwhelming feeling of home. I can't express enough how instrumental Dick, Ann, and their boy's life has played into my personal growth as a friend, husband and a father. You have my deepest sympathy and love.

Great memories of Dick, starting back in 1989 when I first visited Scotty's folks in Stone Mountain. A wonderful man, sorely missed, but warmly remembered.
