Richard Cunlisk Obituary

RICHARD (DICK) MICHEL CUNLISK
October 10, 1936 ˜ April 25, 2023

Richard (Dick) Michel Cunlisk, a 32 year longshoreman and lifelong resident of Vancouver, WA, passed away from esophageal cancer at the age of 86. He is survived in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Darlene; and their oldest son, Troy and wife, Shawn; as well as two granddaughters, Ashley and Ali. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Todd (Terra) and Tony.

Richard was born on Oct. 10, 1936 to John J. and Della Fern Cunlisk at St. Joseph Catholic Hospital. He attended Arnada Elementary, Shumway Junior High, and graduated from Vancouver High School in 1954 where enjoyed being on the football team.

As a nine year veteran of the Washington National Guard, Richard attended two communications schools in Fort Sill, OK, and ended his career as a Sergeant E6.

Richard met the love of his life, Darlene at Spirit Lake in 1960. They were married in May of 1961. Their beautiful family grew with three sons and two granddaughters.

Richard enjoyed traveling, fly fishing, hunting with his boys, and shooting sporting clays competitively. He was a six time Super Senior First Team All American and a Second Team member twice.

At his request, there will be no service, and his family would like to thank Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard’s name to the American Cancer Society. His beautiful life will be greatly missed and those who were blessed to know him will forever say he’s just another Irishman.
