Rachel Casper Obituary

RACHEL NOEL CASPER
May 17, 1992 ˜ June 13, 2020

Rachel Noel Casper, born May 17, 1992 in Renton, WA, died June 13, 2020 in Vancouver, WA, where she had lived with her parents. She died as a result of being struck by a vehicle in the front yard of her home.
The family lived in Seatac, WA until late 1994 when they moved to Vancouver, WA. Rachel graduated from Prairie High School in 2010 having become fluent in American Sign Language and proudly and gleefully participating in the Variety Show. While in high school she joined in a mission trip to Argentina where she helped to build a playground and teach children games in a village called Samuh. Rachel was introduced to llamas and 4-H by her cousin and was a Clark County 4-H Alumnus, serving several years as an assistant 4-H leader of the Woolly Amigos llama 4-H club.
She graduated from Oregon State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. While attending college she was an active participant in InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, which became her main support group and core group of friends during and after college. She was an avid Beaver baseball and women’s basketball fan, frequently attending games even after graduation!
Rachel had worked as a Farm Hand for over 10 years for a local llama farm, as well as serving as a pet sitter for the past several years.
Hobbies included arts and crafts, painting, reading, music, movies, games, and learning and sharing animal facts. Rachel was very active in the llama community. She was a fierce competitor, particularly in showmanship, a friend to llamas and those who love them. Northwest llama breeders noticed her showmanship prowess and she was asked to exhibits animals for many different farms in the area over the years.
She was known for her bright smile, willing laugh, and general positive attitude. Rachel had a natural way with animals and children who seemed to gravitate toward her.
Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Reverend Edwin and Georgia Casper and maternal grandfather, Ray Gilbert.
Survived by parents, Perry and Ellen Casper; Maternal Grandmother, Nina Gilbert; Uncle, Clark Gilbert (Linda Stearns) and son, Colin Gilbert; Aunt, Sarah Gilbert and sons, Daniel and James Wolterman; Uncle, Richard Gilbert (Kim); Uncle, Todd Casper (Vanessa) and Aunt, Laura Casper (Frank Dean) and children, Danielle Getz (Trent) and Brady Casper; and so many other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 22nd at 1pm at Columbia Presbyterian (8715 St. Helens, Vancouver, WA 98664). In light of COVID the service must be limited by invitation. The family appreciates your prayers and understanding that we cannot accommodate all who may wish to attend. We have made arrangements to record the service for later viewing. When I was younger, Rachel and I used to play a game called "Car." She would bounce me on her leg, occasionally swerving left and right. My favorite part was when we´d hit a "brick wall." Every brick wall was different-sometimes it meant someone was chasing me, and I had to speed away, while other times it signaled the end of the game. I miss you more everyday Rachel, you were a ray of sunlight in a dark world.

Perry and Ellen you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm very saddened to hear of the loss of your beautiful daughter Rachel. She was kind and giving to others and her smile could light up a room!
Perry when you brought her to Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day at HUD, she was engaged and creative and knew how to help the younger children with their art projects. She was accomplished and intelligent in her life, and her spirit will live on in your hearts forever. I know her acts of kindness will too. You must be very proud of her. Please accept my sincere condolences, and the strength to carry on during this difficult time and always.

Rachel was pure. Rachel was kind. Rachel was talented & excelled in every endeavor she chose to engage in. She added love and laughter to the many lives she touched. She
was a breath of fresh air in todays world. This is a testament to her parents of their constant love and support. They raised her to know Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior. They are to be praised for their efforts and their steadfast love. Rachel had no enemies
She was loved by all that knew her.
I always teased her that she had NO L because her middle name was Noel. I even
Cut & colored an L one year and gave it to for her birthday. Rachel was a Good & Faithful Servant and always a great roll model. She will be sorely missed by all of us that were Blessed to know her & call her friend.
REST IN HEAVENLY PIECE Rachel until we are
together again.
Love you,
Tania

Ellen and Perry, When I read the news of Rachels passing my heart broke for you. I know your shock. I know your sorrow. The pain of losing your child never goes away, it only dulls. Youll think of Rachel a hundred times a day. Although they bring both sorrow and joy, memories are good. Share memories often. They will keep you going until you rejoin Rachael. Be open to vivid dreams in which you share messages of love with Rachel. Be alert for tiny ways Rachel is trying to contact you. These dreams and messages are signs all is well with her. Rachel, bright and beautiful, will forever remain the light and love of your life. Your friend, Katie J

Rachel was always willing to help anyone. It was always so awesome to see her communicate with deaf community. She also was just a pleasure to be around.

One of my favorite memories during fair was her mini sodas she would drink. I know its trivial to some, but you always knew she would have those for lunch. :) Her laugh was infectious too. I was very proud to have taught her the skills I had learned thru 4H and see her excel!!! Another funny memory is she would joke about how she was taller than a lot of the Argentinan people. Again, another inside joke but it was one of the many special memories I shared with her.

She will be missed by those who knew her and the world is losing that special soul.

Rachel was my niece by marriage and cousin by blood. She was close to my family since her birth. She and my kids were as close as siblings. Rachel was a sweet soul and she will be greatly missed by all of us. She loved all animals and especially enjoyed being part of the llama world after Danielle introduced her to llamas. My heart goes out to Perry and Ellen. Rest in peace, Rach. Love, Aunt Laura

Rachel I liked you from the first time I met you. I was glad that through marriage we became, cousin cousins! We sure had a lot of great times and I will certainly miss you.

Brookie is going to miss you too... You were always so good to her. Brookie loved you very much! She was very concerned about Memphis. She said she would help take care of him and she wanted to make sure that we still would take him to llama shows.

Youll always be in my heart and thoughts. Peace be unto you sweet friend and cousin.
