Marilyn Landau Obituary

MARILYN JANE LANDAU
September 17, 1931 ˜ September 29, 2025

On Sept. 29, 2025, Marilyn J. Landau passed peacefully in her sleep with family by her side.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, L. Warren Landau, her four children, Richard Young, Peggie (Young) Collins, Douglas Young and Karen (Young) Soltisiak. Marilyn also was Grandma to her 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grands and one great-great-grand.
Marilyn was born Sept. 17, 1931, in Manhattan, Kansas. Her family moved west following the expansion of the power grid. She lived in Boulder, Nevada, and Coulee Dam, Washington, where she graduated from high school 1949. In high school, Marilyn was a cheerleader, participated in choir competitions and swim team. After high school, she married and finally settled in Vancouver, Washington. After 20+ years, she divorced and went to work at Western Electric for a short time. There, Marilyn met and married Warren Landau in Aug. 1972. She later went to work at Fred Meyer as the customer service clerk and retired from Freddie’s in 2000.
Marilyn enjoyed family gatherings, reading, RV travel, luncheons with friends, the Seattle Mariners, sewing, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She was a gifted creator and left many beautiful things for her family.
Marilyn always found friends with those she met along the way. The family would like to thank all for their love and support.

I worked with Marilyn at 4th Plain Fred Meyer many different times in the mid 70s, 80s. My thoughts and prayers go out to Warren and family. Much love, Ken Polzel

I am completely heartbroken at this news. Marilyn was one of the dearest friends I have ever had. It was a privilege and honor to know her. We worked together at Fred Meyer for more than twelve years and shared many memories. For years, the two of us attended the Oregon State Fair together, spending most of our time watching the open class horse shows. She always laughed, saying she enjoyed the western classes while I loved the "hot house" horses! I will be mourning and celebrating my dear friend the rest of my days.

So sorry to my former "Young" neighbors. Marilyn was a nice lady.
