KENNETH LOREN CHARD
February 19, 1927 ~ December 6, 2012
Kenneth Loren Chard, 85, passed peacefully at home in Vancouver, WA. He was born in Lucas, KS to Ewen and Jessie Chard.
Ken served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific.
He worked at Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and became a great golfer and a great carpenter once retired.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sharon Chard; sister, Patty Hukari (Norm); children, Steve (Lynnie), Lance (Sari), Karen Umemoto, Ron Thompson (Sally), Jan Mellinger (Kevin); nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held on Dec. 18, 2012 at Cascades Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, WA at 11:00 a.m.

Regret hearting of Ken's passing and express sympathy to his large family and many friends. First met and worked with Ken after his transfer with Union Pacific from Boise,Idaho to Portland, Oregon. Ken was hard working, trust worthy and very comfortable to be around. He golfed, loved life and was a great guy.....and wore 'The Boots'.

My deepest sympathy to family and friends. It is never easy to lose a love one. Drawing to God in prayer is of great comfort at a time like this. Psalm 34:6 helps us to see the benefits of doing so.

Our condolences to Sharon and her family. Ken was a great friend of mine. Our association goes back to the early 1950's when we worked together at Union Pacific in Boise. I regret not seeing him for many years.
