Inez DeBusschere Obituary

INEZ J. (BUDDE) DEBUSSCHERE
December 9, 1909 ~ January 18, 2014


Inez was born in Vancouver, WA to Emilia and August Budde in 1909, 104 years ago.

She was one of five children who grew up on a farm. Her father grew vegetables, which he took to Portland in a horse drawn cart, crossing the Columbia River on a ferry.

Inez graduated from Vancouver High School in 1928. While working at the Woolworths candy counter, she met her husband of 47 years, Emile DeBusschere, a military band leader. Inez worked in retail sales, had a knack for marketing, was a talented seamstress, and an avid gardener. Above all else, she was a wonderful mother. She and Emile raised four sons, all of whom graduated from college, married and raised families. For over 50 years, she has been the beloved "Grandma Dee" to their children, and their children's children.

Inez was preceded in death by all of her siblings; her husband, Emile; and her oldest son, Phillip.

She is survived by three of her sons, Daniel (and Sandra), Gary (and Betty-Jo) and Arthur (and Kay) DeBusschere; and by Phillip's wife, Jean DeBusschere. Inez has 9 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Inez lived her long life working hard, loving her family, and always giving to others. She died the way she lived, with strength and dignity.

Funeral services will be held on January 25, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
