Douglas Maloney Obituary

DOUGLAS PAUL MALONEY
July 2, 1946 ~ March 5, 2012

Doug Maloney passed away at his home in Reno, NV on March 5th, 2012. He was 65. His loving wife, Claire, and several family members were by his side. He was born July 2, 1946 in Vancouver, WA to Tom and Neva Maloney. Doug attended Hazel Dell Elementary, McLoughlin Jr. High and Fort Vancouver High School where he graduated in 1965. He was a 3-year letterman in baseball. Baseball was his passion. He was an All-Star in Little League, Babe Ruth and High School.
His love for ball continued with Fast-pitch and Slow-pitch softball for over 20 years. His favorite professional club was the NY Yankees. He found humor in bantering about their greatness.
He was a member of the National Guard from 1966 to 1972. Doug graduated as a journeyman carpenter and ultimately made the trade his life's work. He retired from United Construction Company in Reno in 2009.
He always said his children were his
greatest accomplishment. The joy he felt
when they spent time together was only surpassed
by being "Papa," to his grandchildren.
Doug is survived by his wife of 37 years, Claire Maloney; children: Michael Maloney, Molly Maloney-Clark and Matt Maloney (of Washington); step-children: Tiffany Lee, Raymond Keown and Melissa Keown (of Alaska); brother Thomas Terrill (WA); sisters: Antoinette Wooldridge (NV), Mary Nida (OR) and Deena Allan (WA); 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 25, 2012 in Vancouver, WA at 1:00 PM at Artillery Barracks Building - 600 Hatheway Road, Vancouver, WA 98661. Food and beverage will be served.

I thank you for allowing “Kenny's little brother” to be a part of your life, you know I loved you like a brother. I'm so gonna miss your smile, your laugh, your wit and yes, even your occasional “attitude.” Give Mark a big hug for me ok?
