Dorothy was an inspiration to all the children who adored her at Salmon Creek Methodist Church. She was a wise, witty, beautiful, generous mentor to so many in our small country community. As a child with Dorothy you might learn about pierced earrings, eating your soup correctly or how ice cubes melting in a glass could be a metaphor for the trinity. As an adult her love, caring and zest for life balanced with her passion for looking deeply into ideas made her a magnificent friend and dinner partner. Pondering and discussing spiritual and philosophical ideas with her before or after the symphony is a memory I will treasure forever; as well as the delight my young daughters took in admiring her sophisticated style when she arrived at our home on those special nights out.
Sending sincere condolences to her family. Please know she was well loved by many.

Dorothy Northcutt was the most beautiful lady I had ever seen when I was 8 years old. She was my Cub Scout Den Mother and I would secretly put flowers in her mail box. We later sang together in the Salmon Creek Methodist Church choir with her husband Ray (who seemed to like me even though I was madly in love with this wife!). What wonderful people and what wonderful memories. I shall miss this grand lady so very much.

All of us at the Country Cafe Restaurant that had the pleasure of serving Hugh and Dorothy the past years we will miss her. She always had a beautiful smile and laugh and kind words for all and even a cute joke to tell. She is a wonderful woman and I feel honored to have had her as a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with Hugh and the family and we know God has a special place for Dorothy. Carrie, Brenda and the Crew of the County Cafe

It would be impossible to remember Dorothy without mentioning her wonderful zest for life! She had a laugh and a smile that could light up a room. The children of Salmon Creek Methodist Church all grew up a little more confident because Dorothy took the time to let us all know how very important we were to her. Dorothy personified the word JOYFUL.

She was a lovely lady. May she rest in peace, although I don't think she will want to rest once she gets to heaven. My condolences to the family.

Sincere Sympathy to the family and friends of Dorothy Northcutt Herbert in your loss. My sister and I have many cherished memories of good times at Fern Prairie Methodist Church when Mrs. Northcutt was Pastor. She taught us many things by words and example. May you find comfort in the good times and memories you had with Dorothy.
