PAULA LOU SCHEEL
May 21, 1943 ˜ December 16, 2023

Paula Lou Scheel, 80, passed away in December 2023 after living with ovarian cancer. She faced each day with her signature feisty spirit and determination.
Paula was born in Portland, OR, to James and June (Vanoni) Hickey, spending her childhood in Monterey, CA, and Echo, OR, and graduating from Echo High School.
She met Ron Scheel and they were married in 1963. They were married 55 years and had two children, Shannon and Kevin.
Paula devoted much of her time to volunteering: she was a volunteer reading specialist at Lake Shore Elementary School, a troop leader for Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts and volunteered in other roles for the Columbia River Girl Scout Council. For many years, Paula was involved with Job’s Daughters Bethel #38 in Vancouver as guardian. She was also involved in the Lady Bug Bazaar. Paula was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star at the Queen Esther Chapter in Oregon and Past Worthy Matron of Henry Wentworth Chapter in Washington.
Paula was renown for her cooking and baking skills, her love of travel (especially Hawaii and Switzerland) and she loved to play Yahtzee.
Paula is survived by her children, Shannon (Brad) and Kevin; sisters, Carla (Bill) and Jackie; grandchildren, Rheanna (Mike), Adam, and Lacey; great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved being their EOA (Eccentric Old Auntie)!
Paula was preceded in death by her spouse, Ron; and brother, Gene.
Paula requested no service.

Shannon,
I always loved being around your folks when we were young. Your mom had the best smile and warmest hugs. I am so sorry for your loss.
