NANCY LOUISE BOMER
July 25, 1947 ˜ March 27, 2024
Nancy Louise Bomer left us the evening of March 27, 2024, in her Vancouver home, surrounded by loved ones, after an 11+ year battle with ovarian cancer. She lived 76 beautiful years. Never taking a single one for granted. She was a woman who wholeheartedly loved life and those around her. Nancy loved anything that sparkled, but SHE was truly the one who lit up every room more brightly than any fiber optic decor could.
Nancy was born to Evelyn and Alvis Clark July 25, 1947, in
Longview, WA, after siblings, Sue Ashe, Gordon Clark, Diane Hanke, and before baby sister, Anne Graham. In 1965, she graduated from Vancouver’s Hudson’s Bay High School. Self-described as a shy wallflower child, Nancy blossomed into an independent, outgoing woman.
In 1966, she married her first husband, William Boyle. Together, they had two daughters, Sheri Powell and Jenny Boyle. Later, as a single mother, she continued her career in food service at The Furlong Restaurant. Finally, she managed the club cafe in the Club Green Meadows Clubhouse for the next 20 years. She was beloved by all who encountered her. She spent much time in the presence of friends.
Nancy met her forever husband, Allen Bomer, in December 1985 when he came to lay carpet at CGM. One look at her and he was smitten. Despite her best efforts to hide from their first date, they quickly fell in love, and married June 27, 1986. Nancy and Allen built a wonderful life together, bringing out the best in each other everyday. Their home would be the set for so many cherished memories with family and friends. Whether someone needed a hand, an ear, or just a glass of wine, the Bomers’ was the place to go.
In their retirement in 1996, Allen and Nancy traveled by automobile, plane and motorhome to visit their favorite places, with all of their favorite people. Nancy loved nothing more than sitting around a roaring fire with her loved ones. She definitely brought the party with her, wherever she went.
Nancy loved music, laughing, shopping, casino trips, Laughlin, NV, river walk and boat taxi; Wallowa Lake, OR, or Big W, as we called it; both Washington and Oregon beaches; and simply spending time with those that she loved. She loved daytime soap operas, evening sitcoms, the Blazers, and scary movies. She loved flowers, especially tiger lilies, and the color red. She loved small animals and when it would snow.
Nancy is survived by her adoring husband, Allen, her daughters, siblings, three grandchildren, and lifelong friends, Lee and DeeAnn Schaffer. Although she is deeply missed by so many more.
An urn side service for Nancy will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.
