MILDRED NORWINE ROOT
July 28, 1926 ~ February 11, 2018

Mildred "Mim" Norwine Root was born in St. Louis, MO and after 91 blessed years, passed away in her home from complications of Congestive Heart Failure. She resided at Glenwood Place Senior Living in Vancouver, WA for the past three years. Prior to her move to Southwest Washington she made California her home for over sixty years in Glendale, Westchester, Huntington Beach, and Mountain View.
Mim received her Bachelor of Science in K-12 Education from Washington University in University City, MO and her Travel Certificate from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA.
She was a Homemaker, Preschool Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, Travel Consultant, and Volunteer.
Mim was dedicated to the Presbyterian Church (Circle, Mariner Ship Argonauts), A.A.U.W., P.E.O., Assistance League of Santa Clara County, Sunnyvale Fish, Sunnyvale Community Service Auxiliary, Theta Phi Alpha, and many other organizations and charities.
Known as "Framma" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her family estimates that she made at least five million Christmas cookies over the years! She was a champion bridge player, gourmet cook, avid reader, patron of the arts, and traveled the world.
Mim was married to Oliver "O.B." Bowen Root VII for over 35 years until his passing in 1985.
Mim is survived by her loving family: daughter, Catherine Van Dyke (William) from Seattle, WA; sons, David Bowen Root (Carol) from Kaneohe, HI and Kenneth Allen Root (Kathleen) from Battle Ground, WA; sister, Jean Norwine Krueger from St. Louis, MO; 8 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at Glenwood Place/The Plaza Community Room in Vancouver, WA at 1:00 on March 9, 2018 and Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church in Sunnyvale, CA at 10:00 a.m. on April 14, 2018.
