Mildred Blue Obituary

MILDRED ELIZABETH (GRANT) BLUE
September 9, 1911 ~ January 1, 2011

Mildred Elizabeth Grant Blue was born in Alva, OK on Sept. 9, 19ll and died in McKinney, TX Jan. 1, 2011 at the age of 99. She was the daughter of Oakley and Lula Belle Brown Grant.
She married Warren Blue of Capron, OK Aug. 21, 1930. Mildred and Warren moved to Vancouver in 1944 where she worked in the Ship Yards as a welder and progress checker. Later she worked in sales, helping Warren operate the Family Shoe Store on Main Street in downtown Vancouver. She moved to TX in 2007 after the death of her sons.
Mildred was an active member of Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church, ABWA, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed traveling and sewing.
Mildred is survived by her daughter Shirley Armstrong and husband, A.K. of McKinney, TX; daughter-in-law, Gwen Blue of Renton, WA; sister-in-law, Ellen Grant of Rupert, ID; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Marie Burton of Washougal; four brothers, George Grant of Rupert, ID and Roscoe (Bud) Grant of Hardtner, KS and two who died in infancy; two sons, Richard Grant Blue of Vancouver, WA and George Edward Blue of Renton, WA; two grandsons, Alan Armstrong of Nash, OK and Kyle Armstrong of Dallas, TX; and one great granddaughter, Jessica Blue of Renton, WA.
A memorial service for Mildred will be held Sat., Jan. 15, 2011, at Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church on 5701 MacArthur Boulevard, Vancouver, WA at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Denise Neuschwander officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church Day Care.
