Lynne Simons Obituary

Lynne Marie Simons, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and mentor, passed peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, on January 4, 2007. Lynne was born June 11, 1943 in Oakland, CA. She graduated from West Bremerton High School and completed her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees at Portland State University. Lynne's career was in public service through municipal government administration in towns and cities in Western Washington. Lynne was loved and respected by everyone she knew. She walked into a room and brightened it with her contagious smile and positive outlook. She was an active member of the Greater Bellevue Lions Club. Prior to moving to the Greater Seattle area, she was the first woman member of the Hazel Dell Lions Club in Vancouver, WA. She was a charter advisor of the Gateway Leo Club, the youth service division of the Lions, in Vancouver, and served as the Multiple District Leo Chairperson for many years. Lynne loved square dancing with her club, Wagon Wheels, and visiting other clubs in the area. She spent many fun, relaxing weekends at Circle 8 Ranch in Cle Elum, WA with her square dancing friends. Lynne is survived by her husband, Bill Simons; daughter, Michele Cappoen, Vancouver, WA; daughter, Lisa Rediske and her husband, Arthur, Vancouver, WA; daughter, Krista Simons, Woodinville, WA; daughter, Noelle Simons, Bellingham, WA; sister, Helen Newman, Walnut Creek, CA and two grandchildren, Katelyn and Alexandria Rediske, Vancouver, WA. A celebration of Lynne's life will be held on Saturday, January 27. 2007, at 1:00pm, at Peace Lutheran Church, 18615 SE 272nd St., Kent, WA, with a reception following, at 3:00pm, at the Kent- Meridian Grange, 15422 S.E. 272nd St., Kent, WA. Remembrances may be made, on behalf of Lynne Marie Simons, at the American Cancer Society's website.
