JON ALEXANDER SCHILLING

Jon Alexander Schilling, age 82, born in Yakima, WA, passed away on Feb. 11, 2023. Jon Alexander Schilling was son to Reverend Howard and Elsie Schilling.
After Jon graduated from St. Helens High School in 1958, he went on to serve in the US Army. After his military service, Jon became a UPS manager for the next 33 years, from which he retired. Jon then moved back home to Washington and enjoyed another 26 years there with his beautiful wife Velna.
In 1961, Jon met Velna. They wed in 1962 and shared their life together for 60 years. Jon and Velna went on to have two daughters, Laurie and Shirley, seven grandchildren, and twenty three great grandchildren.
During Jon’s retirement years, he spent his time in the great northwest as a fisherman and a very good wood turner, creating many pieces of art for his family and friends to treasure. Also, Jon and Velna enjoyed many sightseeing trips in the US and around the world. Most of all, Jon loved his family and was always there for them when they needed him.
Jon was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Marshall; his wife, Velna; his daughter, Laurie and son-in-law Wesley; his daughter, Shirley; his grandchildren - Heather, Michael, Angela, Summer, Joshua, Alicia, and Michelle; his great-grandchildren - Patience, Mercy, Gracin, Harmony, Kayden, Brynlee, Lukas, Elias, Charlotte, August, Theodore, Jonathan, Jackson, Audrey, Samuel, William, Aurora, Coral, Zephyr, Isla, Atlas, Levi, and Freya.
Burial Service will be held at Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard, OR, on April 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Students for Life, 600 Princess Anne Street, #7667 Fredericksburg, VA 22401 - www.studentsforlife.org - an organization Jon felt strongly about because of his love for his family.
