Gerald Ronk Obituary

GERALD (RED) ALVIN VAN RONK
April 27, 1931 ˜ April 28, 2022

Jerry was born to Theodore and Hazel Van Ronk in Pismo Beach, CA, spending some of his childhood in Galvin, WA. He joined the navy in 1948 and was a proud veteran serving in the Korean War. He retired from Columbia Steel in 1993 after 22 years. He loved fishing in his younger days and once rowed around Battle Ground Lake for hours so his daughter could catch fish. He and his wife betty enjoyed many years as members of local grange halls, he as a drummer and her singing. they also belonged to the Columbia Old Time Strings. Jerry was also proud to be part of a band Blue Thunder.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Betty (2020); sons, Dan (2017) and Dale (2018); sister, Annette Long (2008) and Wanda Selby (2020). He is survived by daughters, Connie Kyser (Bruce) and Kathy Gimmey; sister, Margie Wolvers; grandchilden, Cherysa Washington, Josh Washington, Shayla Washington, Alan Kline, Jeremy Kyser, Jayce Kyser; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Public service to be held at Willamette National Cemetery Tuesday, May 24, at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.
