Eugene Betts Obituary
Oct. 30, 1928 ~ July 9, 2009
Eugene Edgar Betts passed away Thurs., July 9, 2009 in Walla Walla, WA. He was born in Vancouver, WA on Oct. 30, 1928 to Frieda and Floyd Edgar Betts. He was the last of three children.
Gene, as his friends called him, married Irma Jean Sebade in Richland, WA, 1952, and together they raised a son and a daughter.
Later, he served his country during the Korean War as a mail carrier.
Gene was a jack of all trades and excelled at such crafts as farming, logging, and truck driving. He also began and was a part of the Pegasus Western Riding 4-H Club, and always enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and traveling.
Gene's survivors include his loving wife of almost 57 years, Irma Jean Betts; son, Steven Betts; daughter, Janice McCullough; brothers, Robert and Henry Otis Betts; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
A visitation will be held at Vancouver Funeral Chapel, Wed., July 15, from 10-5 p.m. His graveside service will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Following will be his Memorial Service at 11:30 at St. John's Lutheran Church.
Donations can be made to the local Alzheimer's Association chapter addressed to Alzheimer's Association, 12721 30th Avenue NE, Suite 101, Seattle, WA 98125-4312.

Our thoughts are with you, Irma Jean, Steve, and Janice. Dave's family and us were out of town at the time of Gene's service but we remember the many good times we had with your family during the kids 4-H days. You were great leaders and good friends. So we have good memories of you all. You were good to Dave. God be with you at this time.

Irma Jean, Steve and Janice~
You were great friends and terrific neighbor. I have wonderful memories of horseback trips and stories around the campfires on the trail. Gene touched a lot of lives through 4H and he will be missed. Love to you, Irma Jean...think about "the good old days" often. Steve and Janice-the best to you and your families, too.
