DOUGLAS GENE NIKOLAS
April 29, 1963 ~ July 6, 2012

youth of our community through sports,
his great sense of humor, quick wit,
and the ability to recall all sorts of trivia."
Douglas Gene Nikolas, age 49, passed away at home with his family by his side on July 6, 2012. He was born April 29, 1963 in Portland, OR and was raised in Milwaukie, OR.
Doug married Marilyn Sotka in 1988 and they made their home in Battle Ground, WA.
He enjoyed playing baseball, coaching his sons in football and baseball, fishing, hunting, working on cars, and building things-including his shop and his wooden fishing boat. Doug was also a talented bowler who could throw a wicked hook and bowled many perfect games.
He worked for Precision Castparts Corp. for 28 years.
Doug was a wonderful son, husband, and father
and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
Doug is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their three sons, Ben (16), Brian (12), and Blake (4); parents, Don and Deanna Nikolas; brothers, Jeff (Michelle) Nikolas and Russ (Cindy) Nikolas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sat., July 14, 2:00 p.m. at Summit View Church, 7701 NE 182nd Ave. in Vancouver.
Donations can be made to the Doug Nikolas Memorial Fund at any Sterling Bank.

Marilyn,
Diane and I are deeply sadden by your terrible loss. Even though we hadn't seen you and Doug for many years we fondly remember our Eden Valley connection with the Sotka Clan and first meeting Doug. Diane and I remember how wonderful it was to be able to attend your wedding and share in your happiness that day in Astoria. Are thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this very difficult time.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Doug's passing. I know he was the love of your life. I still remember some of the crazy things he came up with when you two were dating; so funny.

I am very sad to hear of Doug's passing for his family and friends. I had not seen Doug in many years but remember him clearly from when we were kids. He was both in cub scouts and baseball with my brother Mike. He had a bright smile, quick sense of humor, and as memory serves did the best 'donald duck talk' in town. The world was a better place because he was in it. My condolences to his family.

We played baseball on the same team 1972 Pietros team in grade school Doug was a good baseball player. I highschool you were a down to earth kid you talk to anyone thats what I like about you. We got on PCC in 1984 and it was good to see you the handshake and you remember my name. But when I saw Doug over the years he had a big smile on his face. I will miss Doug but hes in God hands now.
