DOUGLAS JOHN EK
April 6, 1942 ~ October 24, 2011

Douglas John Ek, 69, was born April 6, 1942 in Detroit, MI and passed away on Oct. 24 in Yacolt, WA after a five year struggle with cancer. He grew up in Brush Prairie, WA and resided in Yacolt, WA
the last 29 years of his life. Doug graduated from Hudson Bay High School in 1960.
Doug married Diane (Erickson) on July 31, 1965.
He was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church and loved visiting his Christian friends and reading history.
He worked as a Longshoreman in Portland, OR and also served in the National Guard.
Survivors include eight sons: John with JoAnn, Jerry, Jay with Traci, Eric with Colette, Owen with Sheila of Battle Ground, WA, Greg with Kimberlee of Davenport, WA, Ken with Jennifer of Marengo, WI, Danny at home in Yacolt, WA; five daughters, Kara with Sam Hendrickson of Kingston, MN, Karly with Tony Daniels, Mari with Aaron Williamson of Yacolt, WA, Jana with Kirby Korpela of Hancock, MI, Krissa with Sam Larsson of Battle Ground, WA; 71 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Monty, Gunnar, Byron of Battle Ground, WA, Gary and David of Brush Prairie, WA; two sisters; Sharon Sarkkinen of Battle Ground, WA and Ingrid Milbrandt of Kalispell, MT.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Helen Ek; and two brothers, Roger and Jimmy.
Viewing will be on Thurs., Oct. 27, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., also one hour prior to funeral service. The funeral will be held Fri., Oct. 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Both viewing and service will be held at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 32320 NE Lewisville Hwy., Battle Ground, WA.
