Don was a treasured colleague, mentor and friend. It was a privilege and a pleasure to grow and develop as a Pediatrician under his leadership and guidance.
He was also the Pediatrician for my children who absolutely loved him. His care and gentle touch will always be remembered. My kids reminded me of his role as Santa at "some of the best office Christmas parties" and "he always talked to us Mom".
We will also all miss his incredible sense of humor and his ice cream making and cooking skills.
He was a remarkable leader and trail maker in every aspect of his life. His mark on EPC is indelible and ubiquitous. He taught us to value and care for patients and at the same time to value a good life/work balance. Don Thompson is a true hero and is already greatly missed. We are all much better people for having known him.

Dr Thompson was my 3 children's pediatrician as they grew up. He was excellent at his job. We loved him.

Those of us in the medical field were used to seeing doctors in a jacket and tie. Then Dr Thompson came to Vancouver wearing jeans , a denim shirt and ponytail. The new age of pediatrician. He often directed his questions to the kids not just the parent and my son loved that. Years later when I worked at EPC , Dr Thompson was wonderful to his staff. Blessing to Judy and family

Dr. Thompson was a Godsend to my family! I first took my little son to Evergreen Pediatric in 1980 and stayed with the clinic through my son, two daughters and my granddaughter! Best Pediatric Clinic ever! Our family has seen many different doctors there but Dr. Thompson will always be #1 in our memories! Not only did he see my children, he also was the doctor for my brother, sister, nephew, niece and a lot of my friends children. He was always caring, informative, professional, friendly and top notch! Made all the kids feel special and happy to see their doctor. Our Sympathy goes out to Dr. Thompson's family, he was a great guy!

He was one of our best Fellows in Pediatric Rheumatology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Had a great sense of humor and was a "born leader".

I will miss watching Don cooking, enjoying meals together and losing to him at cribbage. A good man who will be missed by many.

Dr Thompson helped many young parents with his kind and practical advice. He was the best. The epitome of a pediatrician.

May 27th, 2016. Don & Judy, and Heather & I went to a concert in Bend to see the sold out Alabama Shakes. Brittany Howard sang her heart out & we all couldn't stop dancing. The next day, we went on a hike on the Deschutes River trail. As we were leaving & getting into the car, Don slipped on the gravel & skinned up his elbow. Then we went back to my place & Don decided to play his guitar on the upper deck. Us girls were sitting downstairs talking & through the window we saw all Don's sheet music flying in the wind over into the yard. Needless to say, It was not a good day for Don, but he sure made us laugh. His love for music & his good company I will always remember. Rest in peace Don. Terri
