Carol Christopherson Obituary

CAROL CHRISTOPHERSON
Aug. 21, 1938 ~ Feb. 3, 2010
"Unforgettable, That's What You Are"

Some say when you leave this world you leave it alone; she did not. Carol, much loved by her family, passed away on February 3, 2010 due to complications during a short battle with cancer. Her husband of 54 years, her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren stood by her side.
Carol, born in Baldwin, Kansas, moved with her family to Vancouver and attended Vancouver High School. It was then that she met the love of her life, Chuck, at the local ice cream shop. When confronted with his romantic proposition, "Will you marry me? Because if you don't I'm going to jump off the Interstate bridge," she had no choice but to allow him to court her. Their love story then began. They married on November 4, 1955 and together started a family that grew and grew and grew.
Carol's interests included family, traveling in the motor home, gardening (always having the bragging rights to the first red tomato and placing just the right flowers in just the right spot), and loved solving crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. Her greatest joy, however, was her husband; their worlds revolved around each other. They were never apart and were a perfect match for one another. When joined with the kids and their families, the icing was on the cake!
Carol worked for many years at the Elks Lodge #823 and later C-Tran. She had the strength to overcome several life threatening situations, one included a brain aneurysm in which she wasn't supposed survive… then they said she would be paralyzed on one side… then she wouldn't walk or talk. Well, strong as she was, the only thing she lost was a little balance.
Carol will be remembered as a good person:
compassionate, very conscientious of others, always caring,
mild mannered, never raising her voice, and if she found fault
in anyone, it went unknown. She is truly unforgettable.
Along with her husband, Charles Christopherson; she is survived by her children, Debbie (Steve) Young, Terry Christopherson, Coni (Mike) Alleyn, Ed (Randi) Christopherson, Brenda (Mikey) Felts; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Joe and Buddy Walker; three sisters, Nancy Eastman, Doris Barnes and Sharon Mitchell and their spouses; with over twenty nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny; and her parents, Delbert and Ruby Walker.
Join us in honoring the joy she brought into our lives at 1:00 on February 13, 2010 at The First Church of God, 3300 NE 78th St., Vancouver, WA.

Mom,

You are truly unforgettable. I will not say good bye to you because you will forever and always be in my heart. I will never be able to put into words how much I love you.

You are quite the mentor. You taught me so many things about life and what to do with the wrenches that are thrown at me. That I should pick them up and start wrenching. You excepted the things you couldn't change with amazing grace. I will be okay because you taught me how to be strong.

I wasn't finished needing you. Among many things, I have teenagers to raise and I know I will need some help. I will miss you terribly. I hope you will listen when I need to talk to you.

I love you!!!

I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Years ago when the south area Olympic Pipe Line group would get together occasionally on Fridays for "Burgers and Beer", Carol was always a joy to spend time with. Her positive outlook on life and relationship with Chuck was always an inspiration to me. My prayers are with your family during this time of sorrow.

To Carol's family
Carol and I worked together at C-tran many years ago. I always admired the way she took care of her family and loved them all so much, with so much humor, also.
When a group of us from work would get together we would sometimes end up at Carol and Chuck's home and had so many laughs.
The one thing that makes me sad more than anything, is that we lost track of each through the years.
Peace and love to you Chuck and all of your wonderful family.

Chuck and family
So sorry to hear of Carol's passing. My heart goes out to you and your family. Carol was a wonderful person. I was very fortunate to have her work for me at C-Tran, she was a very outgoing and caring person.

Aunt Carol's recognizable laugh, one shared by each of her children, is one that I remember with great fondness. Her devotion to Chuck and their love story is an example to all of us. She was a remarkable woman and her love was never more obvious than in her steadfast & unrelinquishing commitment to Danny. She always put everyone else first in her life. She truly is unforgettable. Much love to my cousins and especially to Uncle Chuck, from your namesake. May you all find some comfort as we gather together on Saturday to celebrate Carol's life.

We are truly saddened by the sudden loss of Carol, and we wish to express our condolences to each and every member of the Christopherson family.
Carol will be forever remembered to us. We will always think of her with memories of pizza and hamburger nights and the family campouts we attended. I even remember the last time we were at prairie with them, and her and Chuck cut a mean rug dancing.Oh how we all laughed.
You couldn't help but be around her and have a smile.
Those memories will be with us always.Thank you all for letting us be a part of your family and remembering Carol with such happiness.
Our heartfelt thoughts to all of you.
