Carmen Davidson-Smith Obituary
CARMEN DAVIDSON-SMITH
August 5, 1936 ~ December 22, 2014
Carmen Davidson-Smith passed away at Banner Hospital in Mesa, AZ. She was born in Lisbon, ND to Crystal and Irving Hegle. The family moved to the Bremerton, WA area in 1941 where Carmen attended grade school and high school. She then went on to U of W, where she graduated with a degree in Music Performance.
Upon graduation, Carmen married Neil Davidson and they had four children, Brian, Bruce, Karen and Brad.
She was truly "The Music Lady" having played violin in the Portland Opera, the Seattle and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras and her own quartet. Over the years she passed her love of music on to hundreds of children through her public and private teaching efforts.
Carmen is survived by her children, Karen and Bruce; and her second husband, Roger.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce; and sons, Brian and Brad.
A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, 1220 Main St., Vancouver, WA 98660.

My sympathy to Carmen's family. I have so many fond musical memories of working mostly, enjoying her performances, and admire her strengths and accomplishments with teaching students' orchestra. I know of no other person who actually went to Japan to learn the "Suzuki' method, first hand, before presenting it to her students.
