Albert Kerr Obituary

ALBERT ‘AJ’ JOHN KERR
September 25, 1940 ˜ May 1, 2025

AJ Kerr, also affectionately known by his family as “MacGyver the Energizer Bunny,” passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in a room filled with love.

AJ was born in Alamosa, CO to Ralph and Pauline Kerr. AJ is survived by his brother Kenneth Kerr, and children Lorrie Meisner, Michelle & (Donny) Ormiston and Steve Pettit. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

AJ graduated from Hudson’s Bay High School before proudly serving his country in the Army as a mechanic, with a deployment spent in Germany. Upon his return, he dedicated his skills to the Clark County Public Works, retiring in 1992.

Retirement didn’t slow AJ down. He embarked on years of travel across the country with his beloved wife, Judy, and their dogs in their 5th wheel, creating unforgettable memories. After their adventures on the road, they returned to Vancouver, establishing a permanent home base. Always one to keep busy, AJ and Judy later worked as drivers for Avis/Budget rental service, where he finally retired at the age of 79.

AJ’s life was rich with interests and passions. He had a knack for restoring classic cars and trucks, bringing these pieces of history back to life. His green thumb was evident in his beautiful roses and abundant summer gardens, which he generously shared with others. He was a constant presence at his grandchildren’s sporting events, cheering them on with pride. He found solace and joy at Hoods Canal throughout the year. His mornings often began at the Donut Nook, where he gathered with his friends, undoubtedly solving the world’s problems over coffee and pastries. AJ was always the first to offer a helping hand, finding immense happiness in assisting others. In his later years, he enjoyed frequent trips to the Oregon and Washington coast with his friend Lori Andres and their canine companions, Pumpkin and Pixel. He embraced life fully until the very end, a blessing for which his family is deeply grateful.

A celebration of AJ’s remarkable life will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Lacamas Lake Lodge.- 227 NE Lake Rd. Camas, WA. In honor of AJ’s lifelong passion for classic automobiles, guests are warmly invited to arrive in their restored or classic vehicles.

I am sorry I missed the celebration for AJ. My husband worked with him for many years. AJ had just been at my husband's funereal mass on March 27th. I am so glad I got to talk to him. To the family, I am sending you all my condolences. My grandmother was Hertz, the same as your Mother. I believe that we were shirt tailed related, which is interesting. God Bless you family, Carrie Glaser
