Wayne Banta Obituary

WAYNE LEE BANTA

Wayne Lee Banta went to be with our Lord, Feb. 4, 2021, following a brief battle with cancer. Wayne was born in Lyle, WA, and grew up in Washougal, WA. It is here, he met his wife of 56 years, Linda.
They went to school together since elementary and Wayne would say he loved her since then.
Wayne worked as a logger with Jake Piller, then took a job at the Camas paper mill where he finished his working years.
He had a great love of the outdoors. He loved sharing numerous outdoor activities such as backpacking, snowmobiling, huckleberry picking, trout and salmon fishing, hunting, clam digging and firewood collecting with family and friends. One of Wayne’s great adventures that he genuinely enjoyed and looked forward to was packing in by horseback to spike camp for elk in the Gospel Hump Wilderness with his lifelong friend Charlie Dally. Wayne will be remembered for his stewardship of the outdoors. Wayne appreciated the natural resources that were available in the Pacific Northwest and mentored his son Mark, son-in-law Bryan, and grandsons Bradley and Jacob on how to conserve and appreciate the outdoors.
Wayne is survived by his sister, Glenna Bahr; son, Mark Banta; daughter, Kelley Thompson; grandchildren, Bradley, Katie, Jacob, Megan and Lindsay and seven great-grandchildren.
Wayne follows his wife Linda who went to be with the our Lord, Jan. 27, 2017. They will be forever cherished and missed.
A private celebration of life will be held March 6.
