WAYNE RUSSELL ARBOUR
February 18, 1939 ˜ May 27, 2022
Wayne Russell Arbour died May 27, 2022, at 83 years of age in Vancouver, WA, surrounded by loved ones. He was lovingly adopted by Russell and Edna Arbour on the day he was born on Feb. 18, 1939, in Vancouver. The family moved to Salmon Creek early on where he enjoyed an idyllic country childhood, which he often referred to as “Mayberry”. He graduated from Vancouver High School in the class of 1957, attended some college and became a lifelong student by always challenging himself to learn more, a true Renaissance Man. He could build or repair anything and some of his specialized work contributed to restoring antique equipment on display in local museums. He was an excellent father, coaching softball, never missing a game, and sacrificing his shins to his daughter’s bad pitches. Aside from the many talents, he developed over his 83 years, he also served in the US Army, retiring on Feb. 18, 1999, as a Master Sergeant E-8. He was also a member of the Fort Vancouver Antique Equipment Association and served as a board member of the Clark County Fair Grounds. Wayne loved being out and about, whether at the mountains or the beach he always wanted to know what was around the next corner. He always said he was lucky in love twice, having found two women who would be willing to try and keep up with him.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie Arbour; daughter, Jaynelle Nash; stepdaughters, Wendy Hutchins and Miki Inosaka-Rust; grandchildren, Kye and Jamie; and loving niece and nephews, Theresa, Tony, and David Cruthers. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; wife, Sharon Arbour 1943-1998 (mother to Jaynelle Nash); sister, Kathy Cruthers; and stepdaughter, Becky Hutchins.
A service will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens NE 112th Ave. Vancouver, WA 98684, 360-842-6060.
Wayne will be remembered for his determination, immense heart, kind generous spirit and sense of humor.
