Theodore Lester Obituary

THEODORE "TED" WALKER LESTER
May 12,1913 ~ December 30, 2013

Ted Walker Lester died in Battle Ground, WA on 12-30-13. His 100th birthday was celebrated on 5-12-13. He was born in Hood River, Oregon.

Ted married the love of his life, Edith Josephine Lloyd, on 7-30-39 in Portland, OR. They met in a diner where they "accidentally" had dinner at the same time after work. She was a nurse with the fruit company. He owned a service station. They lived in Hood River until he joined the Coast Guard in World War II, when they moved to Portland. He served in the South Pacific in the war theater as Chief aboard a Coast Guard ship.

After the war, he began his long career with Rex Motors in Washougal and Vancouver where he was service manager until retirement.

After their retirement, they traveled on dream trips to Africa, Australia, and South America: spending winters in Mexico, often with his brother and sister.

His two children, David Lester and Katie Muirden survive: along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

We lived down the street from Ted and Edith. My dad would visit Ted often, when he was working in his shop. They we a lot alike, as both could fix just about anything. I sure there fixing something together in heaven. I remember Ted was a kind and warm person. My thoughts go out to the surviving Lester family.

David: Your dad was such a gentleman and a grand guy to be around. I would walk through Rex Buick just to say hello to him. He certainly led a full life.
