Sandra Bernhardt

Sandy Bernhardt was born October 5, 1953 in Vancouver, WA. She lived in Vancouver her whole life. She died from complications from a brain injury on December 6, 2009 in Bakersfield, CA where she was getting rehabilitation therapy.
Sandy is survived by her daughter, Jessica; son, Ronald; brothers, Danny and Loren Carlson; her sister, Carol McDonald; two grandchildren, Ronnie IV and Chloe; and many family and friends who loved her.
Sandy's second home was Prairie High School, where she was head ASB secretary for 20 years. You could always find her at a Prairie football or basketball game, rooting on the kids. Sandy loved to travel, cruise around in her Mustang convertible, and spend time with her friends. She would do anything for the people that she loved, and we were grateful. She will be missed by all of us who loved her.
There will be a graveside service on December 16 at 2pm at Evergreen Memorial Gardens followed by a memorial at Prairie High School at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Sandra Bernhardt Scholarship Fund at any branch of IQ Credit Union.

Ronnie and Jesse have lost their Mother now, Something I can't imagine.
I hope they remember all the love you had for them. You were a loving, protective mother and I know that you
will watch over them from Heaven. Rest

I was so sorry to hear about Sandy. Our deepest sympathy goes to the family. We worked together at Burgerville in the 70's and always had a fun time.Seen her about a year ago and had a nice visit. She was well liked by all the crew at BV. May she rest in peace

Most people know Sandy from her dedicated work in the athletic office at PHS, but she also volunteered much of her time to be involved in Battle Ground School District activities. She cared for PHS - but she also cared for BGSD and she would fight for the rights of kids and staff whenever she saw a cause she believed in. Her spirit will certainly be missed, not only for the kids at PHS, but also for all kids in BGSD.

I just heard about sandy last night 12/15 from my son who is on the prairie basketball team. I am so sorry to here of her passing, She was a great lady and will be truely missed.
My heat is just broken.
When I called the asb office she always knew who I was and asked about my son who graduated in 2006. He worked as a student aid in the asb office. I noticed I hadn't seen her at the the games or answered the phones in tha asb office. I just thought I kept missing her.
My prayers go out to her family. R.I.P Sandy
you will be missed dearly.

When I went to a Prairie game this year and I didn't see you, I thought to myself, "I wonder where she is". We knew each other though the school. My daughter played basketball there during the early nineties. I spent an evening going there and watching games over the last 17 years and always saw you. Now I know, where you heaven!!!! We all will miss you a lot!!!

In the relatively short time I knew you, your friendship was valued. To your family, Sandy was a presence in my life that I will always remember fondly. Hearing your voice on the telephone always lifted my spirits. Your close circle of friends was so special. I always knew that you had a support system in place that was awesome. I will miss you, but I know that I am not alone. I pray that your family finds peace in knowing how much you loved them and were loved by them.

You will be deeply missed by all the peoples lives you touched. You were a special person. I was only at Prairie for 4 years, but you made the high school experice easier for me. It will be a different setting not seeing you supporting your home team at all the games. It is sad the kids that will go through Prairie not getting to know you. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your up there cruising and haveing a great time.
