ROSE CATHARINE VARGO
September 22, 1924 ~ November 16, 2010

Rose Catharine Vargo, 86, passed away on Nov. 16, 2010 in Vancouver, WA from ovarian cancer. She was born in New York City, NY to Michael and Angela Rella, the fifth child of six. Her siblings were: Anna, Dominic, Rocco, Jean, and Theresa. As was typical of a large Italian family, she also had four half-siblings: Anita, Tina, Rita and Anthony; and 10 step-siblings. At one count, there were found to be 120 first cousins.
She was married to James Anthony Vargo (surviving) for 63 years and had six children: Rosemary Orrico, James Vargo, Jean Kudell, Bernadette Senter, Michael Vargo, and John Vargo. In addition they had 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Rose and Jim lived in New Jersey and moved to California in 1957. They later lived in Oregon and Florida, prior to settling in Vancouver, WA in 2000. They were members of Our Lady of Lourdes parish. Rose benefited from the friendships and kindness of parishioners.
Rose was our loving mother, grandmother and friend.
We will never forget her laughter, her love of family
and her garden, and her deep faith.
The funeral Mass will be held on Sat., Nov. 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes School, 4701 NW Franklin Street, Vancouver, WA 98663.
