RICHARD CARL "RICH" OLMSTEAD
August 10, 1950 ~ June 27, 2018
On Wednesday, June 27, 2018, Richard Carl "Rich" Olmstead passed away at the age of 67. Rich will be greatly missed and remembered for always helping anyone in need, having endless stories to share and bringing joy to every room he entered.
Originally from the Portland, OR area, Rich graduated from Benson High School and attended both PCC and Clark Colleges. He spent some time in Olympia before moving back to the Vancouver, Ridgefield and La Center, WA areas where he lived most of his life.
Rich spent many years in the photography and automotive industries. Rich's lifelong passion for cars lead him to hold many volunteer and leadership positions in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and the Oregon Rally Group. The Rally community will greatly miss his presence and guidance.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary; and nephew Carlin Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Hilda Olmstead and sister Carol O'Tey.
A celebration of Rich's life will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday July 14, 2018 at the Fort Vancouver Historic Site Artillery Barracks, 600 Hathaway Road.
Memorial donations for Diabetes Research can be made in Rich's name to the Pacific Northwest Research Institute www.pnri.org

Richard was one of the nicest person I have ever known he was the son of carl and hielda who were my friends and neighbors Richard always tried to help his family after his mom and dad passed he has gone to heaven I am sure. Sincerely the Lee family Ron Bonnie and Lance
