LOREN DUANE WAGNILD
July 12, 1942 ˜ December 16, 2021
Loren was the middle child of Oliver Wagnild and Lillian Undem and born in Circle, MT. He graduated from Wolf Point High School and North Dakota State School of Science. He moved west in 1962 to join the Washington State Department of Highways and enjoyed a 32-year career. He considered the highlight to be the locating, planning, and construction of the Mt. St. Helen’s Highway after the 1980 eruption.
He enjoyed deer and elk hunting and salmon fishing and doing work with his tractor. Woodworking was also important and planned and built two homes for his family. He also liked cars and was often consulted about car problems. Health challenges presented in 2006 and was diagnosed with lymphoma. He was willing to try something new and had two stem cell transplants and was later declared cancer free. He was active in Trinity Lutheran Church and Rose City Thunderbirds and held many offices in each.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna; son, Greg (Kellie); daughter, Tanya (Mike Hamilton); and granddaughters, Kayla (Erick Holven), Ashley (Jarrett Louie), Shannon (Andrew Greer), and Sarah Hamilton; a brother, Stuart (Leah); and sister, Jan (Bob Pedersen).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 25 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Trinity Lutheran Church Maintenance Fund or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society Pacific NW Region 5601 6th Avenue South Seattle WA, 98108

I met Loren as a client in my barber shop before my retirement and quickly began to regard him as a friend with a very gentle, and pleasant man to be around.
