Lewis Olsen Obituary

LEW OLSEN
May 20, 1937 ˜ March 10, 202

Lew Olsen, 84, passed away March 10, 2022. Born in Raymond, WA, May 20, 1937, to Ray and Fern Olsen. The family moved to Vancouver, WA, in 1951. He graduated from Vancouver High School in 1955. He served in the Marines in California in the late 50’s. Lew married the love of his life Kay Erlandson, whom he said “I loved her from the minute I met her.” They had two sons, Brian and Darren.
Lew owned his own auto parts store in his 20’s and then changed professions and joined the life insurance business. He was awarded Rookie of the year and then went on to earn many awards, including trips to New Zealand, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Quebec, Spain and many more. In 1970 they took a trip to Portugal with friends. In 1977 he drove all over Europe with Kay from Nice France to Amsterdam. On these trips he enjoyed golfing and deep sea fishing.
Lew and Kay were involved in the Jaycees, doing many charitable events around the county. He enjoyed coaching his sons in little league and visiting Lincoln City with his family, where he would later take his granddaughters every summer. He enjoyed being a grandpa to Nikki and Melanie Olsen. He had so much fun with them while they were growing up and into their twenties. Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marynell (Gary Siegel); and survived by his brother, David (Judy) Olsen; sons, Brian (Chrissy) and Darren Olsen; his two granddaughters; and by his wife, Kay Olsen. He will leave an empty place in our hearts and lives.

Kay, Darren and Brian. So very sorry for your loss. I was honored to work with him through United Heritage (Grange Mutual) for many years. He was certainly a one of a kind upstanding man. My life was made better knowing him. Rest in Peace Lew! I will never forget you.
