JUNE S. (LA PLANT) SPARKS
February 22, 1918 ~ September 10, 2017

June S. Sparks, 99, passed away peacefully in her sleep in Vancouver, WA. She was born in Marshalltown, IA.
June married Robert L. Sparks, Jan. 18, 1941, in Yuma, AZ.
She retired in 1982 from Clark County, after serving almost 3 terms as Clark County Treasurer.
After retirement, June and Bob moved to Albuquerque, NM for 30 years and traveled extensively. In 2006, both returned to Vancouver to be closer to family.
June is survived by 4 children: Dennis Sparks, Michelle Shadley, Suzanne Probst and Patrick Sparks (Arlene); 3 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, in 2007.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Vancouver, on Fri., Sept. 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Rusty Grape Winery in Battle Ground, WA at 1 p.m.

The Clark County Treasurer's Office would like to send its deepest condolences to the family of June Sparks who passed away on September 10, 2017. June was 99 years old.
June served nearly three terms as County Treasurer, serving from January 1972 to June of 1984. She ran on a campaign platform of improving working relations with other elected officials and computerizing the finance and tax collection departments of the office. June was one of the first county treasurers in Washington State to invest public funds. Additionally, From June 1983 to June 1984 June served as the President of the Washington State Association of County Treasurers.
Prior to being County Treasurer, June worked part-time at US National Bank in Portland, Oregon.
