JACK DAVIS
February 18, 1933 ˜ February 17, 2022
Jack Davis died on Feb. 17, 2022, in his Vancouver home, one day shy of his 89th birthday. He was born on Feb. 18, 1933, to Belle and Raphael Davis in Brooklyn, NY. He is survived by his wife, Naomi; his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Mark Rattinger; his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Sharlene and Stuart Wellington; granddaughters, Michelle, Brittany and Alexandra; and great-granddaughter, Lyla.
Jack was a Veteran of the US Army, and served 2 years in the Infantry during the Korean War. After his discharge he attended broadcasting school under the GI Bill and worked as a disk-jockey and radio announcer in West Virginia and Missouri. He spent the largest part of his career as a Labor Services Representative at the New York State Department of Labor, where he worked until retirement.
Jack and his wife moved to Vancouver in 1997, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He was a very outgoing person and easily became part of the fabric of the community. He devoted much of his time to volunteer service, and especially enjoyed serving at Clark College working with students in the English as a Second Language Department. His contributions were highly valued and in 2002 he was honored with the RSVP Volunteer of the Year Award.
Jack was always interested in meeting new people and learning about new things. He was an avid reader, a lover of good food, and enjoyed travel and movies. Jack loved life and wanted to live a long and healthy one. He thought staying physically fit was the answer and a number of years ago he joined LA Fitness. Jack began going on a daily basis, where in addition to working out he met up with a group of men who became his cherished friends.
Jack was unique, interesting and unforgettable. He will always be missed and never be forgotten.
