Hal J. May, retired Clinical Psychologist and long time Vancouver resident, died October 11, 2006, at the age of 77, at his current home in Newberg, OR, after a 3-1/2 year battle with Mesotheleoma, lung cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Hal attended George Fox University in Newberg, OR; Western Evangelical Seminary in Jennings Lodge, OR; Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, CA; and received his Ph.D in Psychology at the University of Oregon in 1974. His hobbies included building, hiking, sailing, metal work, painting and travel. He was a member of the Vancouver and Portland Model Engineer's Club, his last project being clock making. Since retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively in Europe, Canada, Africa, New Zealand and the United States. Hal is survived by June, his wife of 58 years, three daughters and their husbands: Marilyn and Bill Jackson of Newberg, OR; Marge and Tom Seiler of Moses Lake, WA; and Margaret and David LeMaire of West Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 16, 2006, 3:00pm, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be sent to the New Heights Foundation, designated for the Free Medical Clinic, at 7913 NE 58th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98665.
