GEORGE H. “BUZ” PECK
April 18, 1941 ˜ September 13, 2018
George H. “Buz” Peck, a self-made man, passed away peacefully September 13, 2018 at the age of 77, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Sacramento April 18, 1941, but grew up in Roseburg, OR. As a young adult he moved to Portland, OR.
After working in a plywood mill in Stevenson, WA where Buz met and married Wilma Warfield, he then went to work for Gresham Transfer as a long haul truck driver. Seeing that truck driving was only supporting his family, he needed extra money to fund his drag racing interest, so he started building trailers on the side. That grew into a full time job and Buz’s Equipment Trailers was born. Buz was a member of the Slo Poks car club. He built the infamous 47 Buick convertible which appeared as the center fold in Hot Rod magazine. Drag racing was also his passion and he set a world record as the first Blown Alcohol Roadster to run in the 5’s. He continued to build and restore classic cars. Buz was also a member of the Battle Ground Elks lodge. He found RVing in his senior years and traveled with longtime girlfriend Glo.
Buz is survived by his children, Kelly Moss (Steve) Scott, Mike (Emalyn) and Darcy Hoegemeyer (Seth); grandkids, Traci, Kevin, Gage, Hunter, Nichol and Erin; several great-grandchildren; Lhasa Apso, Lizzy; along with his significant other, Gloria Walck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Peck and Dorothy Rolman; and sister, Julene Alexander.
A Celebration of Life will be held at his residence at a later date.
Cascadia Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.

What a good friend Buzz has been to our family. I will miss that smile and sweet talking guy.Gone but not forgotten in my heart. Many good memories. I'm giving my hugs to all the family for the comfort of your loss and to strengthen you each and every day ahead.

I grew up with Buzz in the early 1960's. Buzz was my older brothers , Bob Moores,best friend. Buzz was about 13 when he started coming out & working on 2 hot rods we raced. I was about 10 yrs oldat this time. Buzz soon moved into our home & became a family member & was like a brother to me. Buzz & my older brother Bobbie had planned to open a hot rod & auto repair business in the near future--this was their dream together. However this dream never came to pass, as my brother, Bobbie was killed in a logging accident in 1960. Buzz was kind of lost for a while & wasn't able to stay in Roseburg any longer, & then moved to the Portland area. We stayed in touch off and on for the next 58 years. However we had become much closer during the last 5 or 6 yrs. My wife of 52 yrs, Jeanne & I have gotten to meet Glo & spend a good deal of time with them during their travels to lake Havesu. These times rekindled many old memories that Buzz & I shared from so long ago. It was also our great pleasure to spend time with Glo and get to know her, as Glo is a very special woman. We also hope that we can continue our relationship with Glo. I could go on & on about my early yrs with Buzz and my family. Buzz was really like an older brother to me and I will dearly miss him.Buz and Glo became members of our family and knew our children and grandchildren. We loved Buz dearly and feel the same about Glo. Our thoughts and prayers are with Glo and the entire family. With love, Spike and Jeannie
