Genevieve Meyer Obituary

GENEVIEVE MEYER
July 23, 1928 ˜ February 18, 2022

Genevieve Doris (Bottemiller) Meyer of Vancouver, WA, was born in Ridgefield, WA, to Arthur and Geneva Bottemiller July 23, 1928. She left us peacefully in her sleep Feb. 18, 2022. Gen was one of 11 children: Audrey (deceased), Lloyd (deceased), Phyllis (deceased), Harley, Grace (deceased), Gordon, Carol (deceased), Everett, Glenn, and Connie.
Shortly after graduating from Ridgefield High School, she married Benny Meyer, and was married to him for 67 years. They had four sons: Monte (deceased 2021) (Vicki), Doug, Mark (Christy), Barry (Nancy); eight grandchildren, Andrea, Matthew, Shirlyn, Lauren, Holly, Cassie, Jacob, and Madisyn; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She lived most of her life in Vancouver, WA, but spent a few years in Walla Walla, WA, and a few years in Ilwaco, WA.
Gen (known to most family members as “Granny”) worked most of her life in the Vancouver School District, culminating her career there as the secretary to two district superintendents. She lived in Vancouver until she and Benny retired, and then spent some years travelling before settling in Sun City, AZ, for eight years. After that, they moved back to Vancouver to be closer to the family that she loved spending time with, and lived in Vancouver for the remainder of her life.
A devout Christian, Gen spent her life serving God and actively participating in a wide variety of church ministries. “Granny” very much enjoyed her family. She would sometimes “create” reasons to hold a family gathering. She loved playing golf, and in recent years commented that the one activity she missed the most was golfing. Her other favorite things to do included playing table games, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with old friends.
For friends and family, a memorial service will be held on March 22 at 11:00 at Liberty Bible Church in Vancouver.

Mark and Family, My heart goes out to you all. Your Mom was an amazing woman, she raised an amazing group of gentlemen, and lived a full wonderful life touching all she met. I remember meeting her years back and I thought "no wonder Mark is such a nice guy. What a great Mom!" The memory makes me smile. As she gets her wings and takes flight know that Heaven is receiving an Angel of Light that will remain in the hearts of all that knew her. Prayers of love and comfort!
