GATHEL C. FERGUSON
December 10, 1936 ˜ June 13, 2021
Gathel C. Ferguson’s life here on earth ended June 13, 2021, in Vancouver, WA, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 84 years old.
Gathel was born Dec. 10, 1936, in Princeton, WV, to Clarence Emmett and Marjorie Evelyn (Ransom) Ferguson. He moved to Vancouver as a small child and eventually the family settled in Hazel Dell. Growing up in Vancouver, Gathel graduated from Vancouver High School in 1954. Gathel’s career began as a soils engineer with the California Department of Water Resources before returning to Vancouver in the mid 1970’s where he spent the rest of his career with the City of Portland in their materials testing lab.
Mr. Ferguson is survived by his brother, Randall Ferguson; former wife, Judy White (Carrol); three son’s, G. Scott (Rhonda) of Redmond, OR, Wayde (Gloria) of Vancouver, WA, Brett (Theresa) of Corvallis, OR; daughter Margie Roe, of Seattle, WA; C. Scott Crowe (Kelly) and Dawn Weatherman (Dean); six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Ferguson; and longtime partner, Sharon (Cheri) Crowe.
Gathel was a longtime member of the Vancouver First Christian Church. He was active in community theater for many years, was a loving father, enjoyed dinner out with friends, and had a strong faith.
A memorial service will be held July 24, at 1 p.m. at the Vancouver First Christian Church at 111 W 19th St, Vancouver, WA.
