GARY LEE STRONG

Gary was born in Chewelah, WA, to Leslie M. and Esther C. Strong. He was married to Janice Charlene Strong for 65 years, who is still at the Camas home. Gary served in the Navy and was released from duty in 1956. He served aboard the USS Marshall, a destroyer. His fleet traveled to Australia in 1956 and was the first of the US Navy to visit there since the Second World War. They were greeted with much enthusiasm since the Australians loved their ”Yanks.” He lived in Clark County for more than 50 years, with 35 of them in rural Camas. He was father to Timothy M. Strong living in Montana, David B. Strong and Sharron E. Strong livng in Vancouver, WA. He is survived by a brother, Dennis M. Strong of La Mesa, CA; and a sister, Joyce Savage of Yakima, WA. He had seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He worked in body and fender for 50 years. He attended Laurelwood Baptist Church and held positions from time to time and had many friends there. There will be a Memorial Service at Laurelwood Baptist Church on Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. and all friends and family are invited to share in the celebration of life.
