Franklin McCafferty Obituary

FRANKLIN WEIR MCCAFFERTY
June 15, 1930 ˜ May 8, 2023

Frank was born to Clarence and Mildred McCafferty in Vancouver, WA.
Survivors include wife, Judy of 55 years; daughters, Debra Brigley and Rhonda McCafferty; sons, Patrick (Sharla) and Michael (Tara); 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also numerous very special nieces and nephews.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Clarice Kelley and Sally Fettig.
The following was written by grandson, Andrew:
“Yesterday was the final day of the life of the great Frank McCafferty, a suave, slick, larger than life rapscallion who always kept a joke on the tip of his tongue, an amusing anecdote up his sleeve and a song in his heart. He was a devoted husband to his loyal and beloved wife, Judy, a loving father to his four wonderful and honorable children, Deb, Rhonda, Patrick and Michael and a fierce friend to all who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.
Over the course of more than a decade, even before I married Shannon and was officially initiated as part of the McCafferty clan, Frank had always been kind, accommodating and disarmingly hilarious. As departures were made after each family gathering he’d always give me a handshake (then hugs not long after) and say to me, ”Now you take good care of that young lady.“
When visiting Frank in hospice care, though he was in a state of ambiguous consciousness, we were still able to pry a flash of a smile out of him with a joke or two, and were able to let him feel the kick of his great granddaughter.
As we left, I gave his hand a squeeze and to my surprise he tightly squeezed mine back, and though he didn’t speak, I felt he was saying to me, ”Now you take good care of that young lady.“ I will Frank. May you rest in peace. Yours was a life well lived.”
The family wishes to thank the Ray Hickey House for their excellent care and compassion during Frank’s final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ray Hickey Hospice House, Vancouver, WA.

Dearest Judy & family: I remember you both so well. I groomed Gin & Tonic for you for years in Washougal. You left lasting memories for me. I still think of you often. I'm so sorry to hear of Frank's passing. Please take care... as always - Amy

I haven't seen Frank in years but I can still see his smile. He worked with my Mom at Sears , he was the Allstate man. He always had a joke and a smile. I can still see him driving his antique car. He was one cool dood. Judy, God Bless you and your family.
