Doris Benedict Obituary

DORIS ELAINE BENEDICT
October 5, 1941 ˜ May 25, 2023

Doris Benedict loved life. But Alzheimer’s robbed her last years. Doris died peacefully on May 25, 2023.
Doris was born in Sterling, CO, on Oct. 5, 1941. Her family moved to Nyssa, OR, in 1944 to farm. Doris graduated Nyssa High School in 1959.
Doris worked in Boise, Denver and Minneapolis before returning to education 20 years later when she earned her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Minnesota. She returned to the Northwest and worked in marketing first in Portland and then in Vancouver, WA. In a career change, Doris got her real estate license in the early 1990’s and sold residential real estate in Vancouver, WA, initially with Coldwell Banker for 17 years and then with John L. Scott until 2019.
Doris loved to travel. She traveled to at least 27 countries and all the continents except Antarctica. Following each of her trips, Doris prepared an extensive notebook with photos and detailed descriptions of each site and landmark that now allow others to share in these important parts of her life.
Doris enjoyed movies and mystery novels. An athlete in her youth, Doris loved sports and was a devoted Denver Broncos fan. Doris volunteered at Southwest Medical Center and supported and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity of Clark County.
Doris is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda Benedict; nieces, Diane Lienkaemper, Lisa Graton, Nicole Lee, and Leslie Stahlschmidt; grandnieces, Meggan Graton, Sierra Graton, Emma Graton, and Grace Lee; and grandnephew, Evan Lee.

We met Doris when we were looking for our home. She was a great listener and helped us find a beautiful home that we lived in for 19 years. When we were looking for a new property we immediately contacted Doris. She worked with us again but sadly the market was too hot and we never found a property that met our needs. We were friends with Doris and enjoyed hearing about her travels. She was an amazing person.
