DONNA MARIE BORGE
May 27, 1929 ˜ June 8, 2022
Donna Marie Borge passed away on June 8, 2022, at the age of 93. She was born May 27, 1929, to Avis Isbister and Sherman Hayes in Longview, WA. Known as Marie by her family and friends, Marie was the middle child with Jim as the oldest and Gene as the youngest.
She attended high school at R.A. Long, then in 1948, Marie was swept off her feet by a young, handsome sailor, Howard Borge. They married on Sept. 11, 1948. They grew to a family of five. They shared their love for each other for the next 65 years.
She enjoyed traveling, dancing, and playing bridge. In her younger days, she would hit the slopes on Mt. Hood. Visiting her house you’d always be greeted by the smell of a new dish she was cooking or fresh baked cookies. If she wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find her outside in her garden picking fresh vegetables for a dinner salad or working in her yard picking flowers for a beautiful bouquet.
Preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2014; and grandson, Peter in 2012. Marie is survived by her children, Cathy (Wendell), Mike, and Jeff (Beverly). She has seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Celebrating her 93rd birthday with song, laughter, and being surrounded by family and friends was a blessing and will be a treasured memory. She is now with our Lord in heaven.
The funeral will be held June 17 at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Cathedral, 218 W 12th St; burial will be June 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Willamette National Cemetery. Please be there by 9:30 a.m. Masks are optional.
