DEXTER C. McPHERSON

Dexter C. McPherson born May 1927, died peacefully at home July 22, 2021. Born in Chewelah to Joseph and Eva (Ochs) McPherson. Grew up in Camas. Enlisted in the Navy at 17, stationed in Oahu during WW II. Received his GED. Worked various jobs: Camas Paper Mill, auto mechanic, his own mechanic shop, Dept of Natural Resources late 1960s and promoted to Stevenson/Carson Area Mgr in 1974, retired 1993. Traveled the western states, photographing wildflowers, scenery and documenting his adventures, inspiring him to write and publish two western books. He loved the Gorge, especially the Klickitat area. An avid musician, dancer and card player. He is survived by one sister, eight children, 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A private, family memorial service will be at The North Woods Funeral Home in Salmon Creek.

Dana and family: Dex was my first boss when I came to
Skamania 50 years ago. I was very green to any kind of forestry work but he moved me along, nonjudgmentaly, for the most part. My sympathies to you all at the loss of your father. Bob
