DEAN DELANO OLSON
May 5, 1947 ˜ April 17, 2021
Dean Delano Olson, 73, passed away at his home in Indio, CA, Saturday, April 17, 2021. Dean was born May 5, 1947, in Ridgefield, WA, to William and Jewell Olson. He had four siblings and was the baby of the family. He loved sports and was a three-sport athlete growing up. He moved away after high school and began his career in retail and grocery management.
In 1978, Dean married the love of his life Jacque Olson. Jacque instantly became mother to Dean’s two sons, Brian and William, and his daughter Julie, Dean’s children from a previous marriage. Jacque and Dean added son Tyler in 1979.
Dean spent the next 37 years supporting and partnering with Jacque in their various business ventures while raising their family. Their most notable venture was becoming small business owners. They bought Carl’s Blueprinting and were very successful as owners, creating an atmosphere where their employees were like one large family.
Once the children entered adulthood Dean happily discovered golf. He became an avid golfer and played regularly with Jacque and in various clubs and tournaments around Northern Nevada and California. They made many friends and created great memories that revolved around golf. His love for baseball and more specifically, the New York Yankees, was known to all. Dean and his children were devastated by the passing of their beloved Jacque in 2015.
Dean had a huge heart and was passionate about many things, the greatest being his family. Dean loved being “Papa” to his grandchildren. His sense of humor, generosity, and love for his family was always evident.
Dean is survived by his family; wife, Cheryl; son, Brian; granddaughters, TC, Anniston, Grace and Bellatrix; and grandson, Brian, Jr.; son William,(Kelsie); granddaughters, Karlee, Paige and Hayden; and grandson, Ridge; daughter, Julie (Grant); granddaughters, Leila and Maggie; son, Tyler; grandson, Elijah; sister, Robbie Moore; and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Final arrangements are being handled by Rose Mortuary in Rancho Mirage, CA. Dean requested his children celebrate him privately on a golf course and fishing trip.
