ANITA HETLAND MANLEY
September 29, 1956 ~ February 5, 2012

Anita Hetland Manley, age 55, was taken from us Sunday, February 5, 2012. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1956, her birth and her life filled the lives of her proud parents, Doris and Albert Hetland, with joy. Anita was preceded in death by her younger sister, Linda.
Anita lived in Vancouver, Washington with her husband Roch, and their three children; Drew, Rochelle, and Anders.
She volunteered in her children's sports activities, as a cub scout leader, and in many other family centered activities. She regularly volunteered her skills as a registered nurse and diabetes educator at the Free Clinic of Southwest Washington.
Her career as a nurse began at PeaceHealth Southwest Hospital in 1989. She worked as a diabetes educator there for many years guiding newly diagnosed clients in managing their type II diabetes. Donations can be made, in memory of Anita, to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Sat., Feb. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 309 West 39th St., Vancouver, WA 98660-1959.

Roch and family.....I so well remember a time when Anita, so patient and caring, drove Jenna all the way back from Longbeach because she didn't want to spend the rest of the weekend there ...who knew the reason......only for me to meet them in Longview, have lunch at Shari's.... then to have Jenna to say she wanted to go back to the beach with Anita!!! I will never forget how understanding and kind Anita was to both of us and how she made me feel her genuine concern was for my child. It speaks so strongly of who she truly was to me as a friend and mother who understood. I so admired her soft way and huge heart. I feel very blessed to have known her. Susi Pitt

Roch, I am so sorry for your families loss. Anita was my clinical instructor for diabetes education in 2010; she left a lasting impression on me. I enjoyed sharing stories with her about our son's who were in the USCG. She was a great nurse, teacher, mentor and woman. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers; I know you will miss her so.
